Mr. Mouanga was born in the early 1960s in Brazzaville Congo.

At 16, he is noticed as talented and gets a scholarship that sends him to Marseille until 1980. He meets the actor and artist Jean Marais in Nice. Back in Kinshasa, he opened a workshop in Brazzaville where he worked with his assistants on monumental works commissioned by the Congolese State.

Bernard Mouanga dies in 2016 in the general indifference (especially on the part of the political personalities he met), while his sculptures are located on the high places of the capital!

     This chest is a work of youth I acquired in France in a person living in the Congo in the 70s-80s. I was immediately seduced by the expressiveness of the carved characters. And also touched by the authenticity of the look that gives the skilled hand of the sculptor the ability to move us ...
